Last week I decided that I was going to start being more strict with my diet and exercise in the run up to silly season.
So obviously it would be the perfect time to receive an email offering me free cake…
So when bakerdays emailed me to ask if I’d like to try one of their 5” letterbox Christmas cakes, I conveniently forgot my ‘new week’s resolution’ and jumped at the chance.
bakerdaysprovide quality personalised cakes for all occasions. As the name suggests, the Letterbox cake is the baby of the family. At just 5” in diameter, it fits perfectly through the letterbox which means you can send a lovely gift without the recipient being in.
When it came to picking the design that I wanted though, I was actually really stuck… Do I go for a traditional Christmas design, or do I please my Frozen-obsessed 2 year old and pick one complete with Arna, Elsa or Olaf?
I decided to go with the more traditional style and picked the Christmas stockings cake design. It was ordered on Monday and I kind of forgot about it.
Until I got home from dropping Lady P off at nursery on the Wednesday… 2 days later, I had a very exciting parcel sticking through the door!
Woo hoo! CAKE!
Priced at £14.99, the packaging feels really good quality. The cake comes in a small tin inside the box which fits snuggly to make sure it doesn’t shift in transit.
There are few nice touches like a card and small Christmas cracker, but the clincher is that when you open the box, it smells so good!
It’s the same rule as not going shopping on an empty stomach; don’t open fresh cake before lunchtime.

How we found it…
I absolutely loved the experience of bakerdays.
The cake smells (and tastes) delicious, and is just the right size for a family of 3 or 4. It’s a good job it’s not any bigger in fact, or I’d definitely be breaking my healthy eating pledge!
The range and selection available to choose from is huge, so you’ll be sure to find just the right design, whatever the occasion.
And the speedy delivery and packaging is spot on.
Tried and tested review:
The whole idea of cake by post is just brilliant. I have often wanted to send a sweet treat by post for friends but never found anywhere to do it that doesn’t feel like it’s costing a fortune.
The only negative I really have about the cake is that the decoration had bled slightly, so it wasn’t quite as crisp as the website images suggest. It didn’t affect how it tasted though, and judging by the positive reviews I read, I think it’s probably a one-off.
Apart from that, I thoroughly recommend it as a way to put a smile on a loved one’s face this Christmas. Or birthday. Or just because everyone loves cake.
