Before I go any further, I want to clarify that I don’t for a second believe that Christmas is really cancelled.
“Christmas is cancelled” was the standard phrase my beloved Gramps used to say to me when I started counting down to the big day in September.
Yes, in September.
He didn’t really mean it of course, he just knew it would wind me up. And like all of my family, he was one of the cheekiest there was.
I’m a Christmas obsessive, you see.
I always have been.
As soon as the schools went back, my internal Christmas timer activated.
These days I have to wait for my daughter’s birthday to pass first, but then we can begin.
So, November it is.
It’s not about the gifts
The truth that often surprises people though, is that I’m not in it for the Christmas gifts. Not for me anyway.
I love the music, lights, films, drinks parties, novelty food, adverts, wrapping paper, and most of all, having all of my family around me.
I love love love it.
Although I’m not bothered about receiving presents, I do really enjoy planning what to buy for other people.
And I really like to find things that are a bit unusual – especially stocking filler ideas.
The idea of a stocking has always been one of my favourite parts of Christmas. My Nan would always sneak one into my room full of novelty little gifts, an orange and some chocolate coins for me to rip open excitedly before it was even light.
So now it’s my job to do that for my little one.
Recently, I came across Uncommon Goods that sells just the things to make someone smile on Christmas morning.
They sell interesting and unusual gifts and ship worldwide – perfect for something just a little bit different.
I mean, who wouldn’t love a 3d unicorn model kit?
Their personalised gifts are definitely worth bookmarking and coming back to as you plan your Christmas shopping.
So if you’re looking for something for the person who already has everything, you should take a look at this shop.
